What Is An Arkelope?

We often wonder that sometimes, too. The original inspiration came from a wonderfully made animated short directed by Roslyn Schwartz (NFBC) in 1994. The 5 minute comedy takes a pointed look at endangered species and human indifference. Since we love animals, we decided to name the company as an inspiration to save endangered species.

Also, it’s a super catchy name that everyone seems to remember and love, so we’ll stick with it!

Since our inception, Arkelope Design, LLC has been giving back. We support the Heifer International Project, an organization that empowers families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity – but the approach is more than just giving them a handout. Heifer links communities and helps bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty. Their animals provide partners with both food and reliable income, as agricultural products such as milk, eggs and honey can be traded or sold at market. We have donated several times to this project in honor of our clients.

We also donate our time and efforts to the Will-To-Live Foundation – a non-profit organization that is dedicated to preventing teen suicide by improving the lives and the ‘Will To Live’ of teenagers everywhere through education about mental health and encouraging them to recognize the love and hope that exists in each other.
